We’ve been waiting ever since the Jetsons (at least) for this and now I think it might really happen. Yes, flying cars. Word is that within the next six or seven years there will be flying taxi’s. They will take off and land vertically (a technology the military has used for a long time). But the thing that makes me think it might really happen is that there are at least 19 different companies working on building flying cars. A few of the cars in progress were being shown at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas. You gotta believe at least one of them will make it happen, right?

But thinking ahead…would I be willing to pay for a taxi to fly me to work and back? Oh yes!!! No question about it!!! I hope they hurry up – Davy

January 22nd, 2019

Well the Oscar nominations came out this morning. The show will be televised on Sunday, February 24th. I’m not sure how much we care about the Oscars, but I will say this; I think it was a pretty good year for movies. In fact, this year I’ve seen more than half of the movies nominated for best picture and that’s unusual. It seems like most years I haven’t even heard of half of the best picture nominees.

I have my favorites and I certainly have a few specific people I’d like to see win, but it’s too soon to think about that. After all, I had a team or two that I wanted to see win their way to the Super Bowl too…and that didn’t go so well… More thoughts on the Oscars soon… – Davy

Ok so my two cents on the weekend football is that it was two great games… and, oh yeah… I’m now a Rams fan… Sorry, just can’t root for New England.

Bigger than the weekend football though is we’ve made it to the last ten days of January and, yes, it is cold, but we made it through the weekend with a little less aggravation than we were expecting.

Three weeks to baseball spring training!!! – Davy

January 18th, 2019

The weekend is here and it’s a big one if you’re a football fan… or a fan of unpredictable weather… Looks like some snow, sleet, and rain but still I think I’ll be glad I’m not in Kansas where the Chiefs will play. It’ll be real cold.

In a new study out this week, word is the average NFL fan spends 46 hours a month thinking, talking, or reading about their favorite NFL team. I’m pretty sure that depends on how good your team is though. If your team is real good or real bad you probably spend more time than that. Either way… this is true… I bought a new coat so I could leave my Redskins coat at home. Every time I wore it people would ask me why my team is so bad. I’m out of answers… I now have a plain black coat.

This weekend, I pick Kansas City and the Rams to win. We’ll see, have a great weekend. – Davy

Happy Wednesday! Today is International Hot And Spicy Food Day! It really is… and I’ve got to admit I love hot & spicy and I’ll no doubt celebrate the day appropriately at dinner tonight. I love hot & spicy food and I really love all the various sauces. Wing sauce, hot sauce, and all the double named sauces too… Bang Bang sauce, Yum Yum sauce… Boom Boom sauce… all great.

But here’s the truth. I’m pretty sure if I maintain enough of a concentration of hot sauce in my system, it kills all the germs that cause colds and the flu. Don’t laugh… I think there’s some science to back me up here.

Either way… something hot & spicy will warm you up today. Enjoy! – Davy

Happy Monday!

If you’re an Eagles or Cowboys fan… things didn’t go your way this weekend. I know how you feel so I’ve decided to be a Kansas City Fan from here on out. But mostly I guess, I’m really a fan of… four weeks left to baseball spring training!

By the way, today is also National Dress Your Pet Up day…I mentioned that to my cat Charles this morning and he said…well I can’t really repeat what he said, but basically it was “Guess again”

Have a great day. – Davy

Heading into a weekend of big playoff football so if you’re an Eagles fan… Good Luck!!!

I’m thinking about a quick winter getaway and I ran across this… An Underwater Hotel… the world’s first underwater hotel has opened in the Maldives. A one-night stay costs $50,000. The underwater glass bedroom allows guests to sleep while fish, stingrays, turtles, and sharks swim by… I think my problem would be… I’d always be hungry… I love seafood.

Have a great weekend. – Davy

It’s definitely feeling colder and a little more “winterish” but look on the bright side. We’ve made it to almost the middle of January with only a few weather issues. I do feel sorry for skiers though, it hasn’t been a great season for hitting the slopes. There is still time though.

More than the weather, I am loving the days getting longer. I realize it’s only about a minute a day or so but still…I’m a big fan of sunshine…and lots of it!

It’s almost the weekend and another good one for pro football! Make it a great day- Davy

I’m a fan of the show Big Bang Theory and it’s in it’s last season… I’ll be sad to see it go. But one thing they need to address before the show ends is this… In several episodes over the years they’ve made fun of Aquaman.  A couple of times they’ve gone to costume parties and no one wanted to dress up as Aquaman. Well check this out! AQUAMAN has set a movie record. The movie has made a total worldwide of $940.7 million. This means Aquaman is now the top worldwide grossing movie in the DC Comics Extended Universe.

I love it!… Have a great day! – Davy

So was this past weekend of playoff football exciting enough for you?

I guess it depends on who you’re rooting for, but congrats to Eagles and Cowboys fans. The bad news is though, looking ahead to the games those two teams are playing next weekend… they should be a little scared. In fact, the kicker from the Bears might be saying, next week at this time… “I’m glad I missed that kick”.

Hey the Golden Globe Awards last night only ran about 20 minutes over time… It should probably get a Golden Globe award for that. – Davy

January 4th, 2019

Well here we go… into the first playoff weekend in the NFL and I’m guessing things could get interesting.

If you’re a Ravens fan…good luck to your team taking on the Chargers, Sunday afternoon. Hey, no matter the outcome of the game, it looks like a record will be set. The Ravens QB Lamar Jackson will be the youngest ever starting QB in the playoffs. I hope you get a win to go with it. Meanwhile, defending champs the Eagles against the Bears…I’m afraid the Eagles might have their hands full.

And you probably know I’m a Redskins fan and I’ll do what I always do this time of year…sit back and laugh! Playoffs? what are playoffs? – Davy

January 3rd, 2019

So how are you doing with those New Year’s resolutions? It’s the 3rd day of the year and if you’re still keeping your resolutions you’re doing well. according to a new survey, 77% of people keep their New year’s resolutions for one week. About 55% will make it a month.

Hey… anything you can do is progress right? If you keep not being successful, maybe you need to make a different resolution? I resolve to drink more coffee… and eat more cookies… Ha! I can’t fail! – Davy

January 2nd, 2019

Welcome to the New Year! I hope you had a great holiday!!! I did, but I think I’m feeling like everyone else… uhhh… what day is it? Is it Monday, or Friday, or Wednesday? It’s hard to get your body to adjust itself, right?  When holidays fall on the weekend it’s no problem… we’re real good at adjusting to a three day weekend aren’t we?

Here we go… into what I hope is a fantastic 2019 for you! – Davy

December 21st, 2018

So as we get closer and closer to the Holidays I’m thinking one of the things I want the most is to stay well. Into this weekend before Christmas I’m pretty happy. Shopping mostly done, delicious food on the way in fact everything in order. But I’ve also taken preventive measures to feel good for the holidays… Flu shot, check… No mistletoe to be found (no disease spreading)… check… Just fist bumping… no handshakes… check…. good bottle of Rum… (to kill the germs of course)… check… These are things that Health Officials have suggested, well most of those things. I did a little improvising at the end but… Here it comes! The last weekend before the Holidays!!! – Davy

December 20th, 2018

I’ve heard about lots of novelty Christmas trees. I’ve seen the upside down tree that hangs from the ceiling and also the cut in half tree that hangs from the ceiling and of course the trees of various colors…but here’s a new one that I think might be a pretty good idea…How about the half tree that’s cut vertically down the middle! How about that! The trees cost from $40 to $130 but here’s what you do. If you have a small room or even a room without a good corner…it sits flush against the wall! It looks great but takes up less space. It’s a pretty great idea because who likes decorating the back of the tree anyway. The only thing I wonder about is with that much of the middle of the tree cut off, wouldn’t it dry out really fast? I mean I’m definitely not a tree- ologist (?) but I’m just guessing…  – Davy

December 19th, 2018

There’s a new survey out that’s about talking with your pet… like who doesn’t, but get this… Two out of three people say they understand their animals’ noises, you know, like barks and meows. And about the same number of people say that when they speak their animal understands what they’re saying. ‘m thinking that’s true but it’s no secret, with cats I think they understand you… but ignore you. That’s the only explanation I have for why I keep telling my cat, Charles, to quit ordering expensive cat toys online and ordering movies when I’m not home… but he keeps doing it! – Davy

December 18th, 2018

It’s definitely the holiday time of year, but it’s also the hunting time of year in lots of areas. Here’s a case where the punishment maybe fits the crime. Did you hear about the deer poacher in Missouri who killed hundreds of deer and then just left them to rot? A judge sentenced him to a year in prison… and a little creative justice here… the judge also made the requirement, as part of his sentence, to watch the movie “Bambi” at least once a month for that year.

This guy will have a long year to think about things… – Davy

December 17th, 2018

So are you on schedule for the holidays? I think I’m doing ok…but things are busy…

Keep this in mind though, despite the popular belief that Black Friday is the busiest shopping day of the year…it’s not. Typically the busiest day is the Saturday before Christmas, and this year, the Saturday before Christmas is only 3 days before the big day so you can be sure this Saturday will be busy!

Maybe you should consider taking Thursday or Friday off and beating the weekend rush. Just trying to keep you on schedule. – Davy

December 6th, 2018

I’ve taken a short break from my Christmas shopping to plan my winter vacation… and here it is!

Check this out! In South Korea they’re opening a cheese theme park! I’m not kidding!!! All the buildings are shaped like pieces of cheese. You can sample different cheeses and make your own 5 cheese pizza! I could probably be pretty happy living there! The thing I wonder though… We have something called American Cheese… do they have something that’s the same… but called South Korean Cheese? – Davy

December 5th, 2018

In case you were thinking about getting some canned tuna fish for Christmas (and you probably are, after all, it’s the perfect stocking stuffer) you may want to think again. Sales of canned tuna fish are way down these days. In fact, studies show that many younger people don’t even own a can opener! Tuna companies are selling tuna in packets these days so I can’t help but wonder, is tuna fish, and maybe the occasional coffee can the last of the cans you need a can opener for? Will future archaeologists unearth can openers and wonder…what were these things for? Haven’t there always been pop-tops and packets? Hmm…

December 4th, 2018

So as we head for the Holidays here’s something I’m going to keep in mind. Forbes magazine has released their annual list of highest paid You Tube stars and at the top of the list is a 7 year old kid that reviews toys… he made $22 million last year. I think I seriously need to reconsider my career choice. I like toys.

December 3rd, 2018

Hey we’re getting knee deep in the holiday season and there are always some great stories this time of year of people doing things the right way.  It always makes me feel better when I hear people supporting each other and here’s one of my favorite’s that I’ve seen lately…

At a wedding last weekend, guests of the Robbie & Stephanie Campbell wedding wore blindfolds. Why did they do it? They were supporting the bride who lost her sight five years ago.

I love it! Happy Holidays! – Davy

September 21st, 2018

Here we go into the first weekend of Fall… hope you’re ready for it. Fall actually gets here Saturday night but as long as we still have some Summer weather ahead I’ll be ok. I just don’t liker the sudden change.

Hard to believe but this weekend is the 33rd annual Farm Aid Benefit. It’s in Hartford Connecticut. The first one was on this date in 1985 and it raised $10 million for the nation’s farmers. It’s grown since then but hats off to Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, and many others for this great yearly show!

Have a great weekend! – Davy

September 18th, 2018

Well we’re all still recovering from another year of York Fair and Froggy Stage fun but what a great year it was! I hope you got to come out and check out some of the great entertainment.

On to the next celebration which is today and that’s National Cheeseburger Day!  A new poll says 82% of us love cheeseburgers and our #1 cheese for the burger is American. Yep, I have to agree. It’s got the right melt doesn’t it. #2 is cheddar, #3 is Swiss then Pepperjack then Provolone. I’m fine with any or all of those!

Hang in there…nicer weather is coming real soon  – Davy

August 7th, 2018

First it was nonstop rain…now it’s nonstop heat. It’s been pretty hot for sure but if you’re planning to fire up the grill and do some burgers, this guy is totally right.

Some guy on the internet is saying we shouldn’t add the cheese to the cheeseburger until it’s off the heat. I definitely agree and I’ve been doing it like that for years. Why? Because it’s too hot and the cheese melts and drips down on the grill and the fire and that is a waste of some perfectly good cheese. And now, for some reason, I’m really hungry!

Make it a great day  –  Davy
