Pet of the Week – Meet Ember!

Yippee! Life is great and I’m so, so, so excited! My name is Ember, but they should have named me WiggleButt, because that’s what I do best! I’m the friendliest little pitbull you’re ever gonna meet, and I’m not even a year old! Sometimes Pit Bulls get a bad rap, and if you think we’re not for you, you should come meet me!

I came to the shelter as a stray, and I had some health issues when I got here. They have an awesome vet, and he fixed me up in no time. I had spay surgery, (no more pups for me), I had my dew claws removed (they won’t catch on stuff anymore), and I had my eyes fixed. I had something called entropion in both eyes. That’s when the eyelids curl around and the eyelashes are constantly in your eyes. Ouch! It was very painful.

So now that I’m all better, I’m ready to look for my new home. Remember when I said I have lots and lots of energy? I wasn’t kidding! I’m in motion from the moment I wake up until I’m fast asleep! I would love to have a great big yard where I can run and run and run, and a family that will take me on exciting adventures! We could go to the park, and on long walks, and hiking in the mountains, and swimming, and – oh I’ve gotten myself all excited again!

I would love to have a couple of kids to play with too (not the wee little ones, though), or at least grown-ups who are kids-at-heart. We will have so much fun together and I definitely need someone who will help me run off some of this energy! I’m not sure if I would get along with another dog, so I think we should meet each other before we commit to a lifetime together. Cats? Probably not, but boy, wouldn’t they be fun to chase!

I’m going to need some training to learn how to behave like a good dog. I’m really smart, and I’m very food motivated, so I should be able to learn quickly. I think I’m getting the idea when it comes to house training – most of the time I use the outside of my kennel to do my “business”. That’s good, right? See how smart I am?

So, come on – how about giving me a chance at a really great home? The girls say I’m pretty cute, and I’m so anxious to please! If you already have an approved application at the shelter, give them a call and set up a time to come in and meet me. If you haven’t done an application yet, do that now! Once the word gets out about how cute and smart I am, folks will be standing in line to meet me! Fingers crossed!
