I hope you had a great weekend! Be careful today and tomorrow because we’re in the middle of another reminder that it’s still winter! (On the bright side… 27 days till daylight savings time… just another sign of spring right?)
The Grammy’s were last night and, as usual, it wasn’t great. I need to lower my expectations a bit I think. But I was glad to see Kacey Musgraves win big! Also I was very happy to see Dan & Shay win for Best Country performance by a duo or group for “Tequila!”
Don’t know about you but Snowy days and Mondays always… well… never mind. – Davy

Happy weekend eve! You’re almost there!
I ran across this story and I had to share it with you because it’s…frightening…amusing…and most of all obvious! A new, just released, study shows a regular serving of fried chicken is associated with a higher risk of death. The study showed that those who ate fried chicken once or more per day had a 13% higher risk of death. I don’t think this comes as a surprise to anyone and I can’t imagine how much someone spent to do this study. But I think the most surprising finding in the study is that they found some people who eat fried chicken every single day and sometimes more than once!
On the bright side though… they also found that you can listen to Zac Brown sing “Chicken Fried” many times a day and still be healthy and happy! – Davy

Today is National Frozen Yogurt Day! I think you know how to celebrate.
Ice cream is one of the great pleasures of life and maybe you heard me mention this on the air yesterday: there’s an ice cream shop in New York that’s offering an ice cream bouquet for Valentine’s Day. It’s 19 scoops of ice cream on a single cone. I’m not sure I could eat 19 scoops of ice cream… but I’m definitely willing to give it a try. Happy Wednesday! – Davy

Welcome to Spring! At least for a couple of days.
Now that I’m emerging from my football food coma, it’s a good time to share this with you. More about food! It’s been bubbling under the news recently and check it out… A new survey asked people to name some of their strange snack food combos they like
And here are 10 that multiple people mentioned . . .
1. Cheese and potato chips.
2. Apples and cheese.
3. Meat and sour cream.
4. Ice cream and French fries.
5. Potato chips and ketchup.
6. Cream cheese and jelly.
7. Pizza and ketchup.
8. Popcorn and hot sauce.
9. Apple pie and cheddar cheese.
10. Peanut butter and pickles.
I’ve actually had 8 of these ten and I like them. No thanks on #7 and #10 but I’ll add one that I love. Peanut butter and spaghetti! Yep. Learned it from my dad and it’s a winner. Try it! – Davy

Here we go it’s almost the big weekend and check this out…
According to the American Institute of Food Distribution, this Sunday is the second biggest food consumption day of the year behind Thanksgiving. It’s true in my house for sure. I’ve planned out the menu for Sunday and I think my guests are gonna love it!
Iceberg lettuce, no dressing
Saltine crackers with chickpea topping
Scrambled egg whites
What do you think? Wait… on second thought, I think I’ll have Pizza, Wings, and Beer! Go Rams! – Davy

There’s a shocking new survey that’s out and it’s from the American Pie Council. It appears we like pie. In fact almost all of us do. The survey shows that 92% of Americans Enjoy eating pie! Me, definitely included.
The most popular pie…Apple. Then it’s pumpkin, pecan, sweet potato and chocolate. I’m more of a cherry pie fan myself but…here’s the shocking part. There IS an American Pie Council. Where do I find them and how do I join? I’m in…big time!!! – Davy

The next three days will definitely be cold. But check this out… Yesterday in Grand Forks, North Dakota the wind chills were – 60! Green Bay was -47… parts of Minnesota were -54. Yeah, that’s cold! On the other hand, on the opposite side of the world in New Zealand there’s a heatwave happening… average daily temps are 96! Just goes to show you, no matter where we are in the world we can find something to complain about. Stay safe – Davy

We’re heading for the big weekend and as we get ready for the game I’m seeing plenty of these kinds of stories… An unidentified fan of the Patriots paid $180, 685 for 8 tickets on the 50 yard line for the Super Bowl. I think if I’m going to pay that much money for a ticket, I better get to play in the game… and… I should get to decide who should win! (I’d pick the Rams by the way) – Davy
January 25th, 2019
Well this weekend is that all important sports weekend. The biggest of the year probably. That’s right, it’s the weekend of the Pro Bowl!!! That’s right… THE Pro Bowl!!! OK, so I’m kidding. I don’t think I know of anyone who much cares about the Pro Bowl (including the players playing in it) It’s the NFL’s All Star game and I’m not really sure why it’s played. Goal number one is…don’t get hurt! Seriously, a player getting hurt in a meaningless game would be a really bad thing. I just hope all the players take it for what it is…just a (fun?) game… In case you’re interested, it’s Sunday afternoon at 3 from Orlando Florida (Hey, I’m going to DisneyWorld) – Davy
January 24th, 2019
Well, it’s your first weekend of no football (except for the Pro Bowl, but that’s not real football) in a long while so I figure I’ll get some things done around the house because I sure won’t the weekend after that.
Last week, I mentioned to a friend that I really thought Tony Romo was doing a great job as an NFL analyst. I’m definitely not the only one with that thought. Right now he makes $4 million a year, but he will likely be making lots more than that next year. He has plenty of fans of his TV work and his ability to predict plays. I’m seriously not trying to start a football debate here but I have to say…I’ve seen some really good players become not good analysts on TV…but this is a case of an ok player becoming a really good TV analyst. When it comes to Tony Romo…I’m a fan, and I never thought I would say that! – Davy

We’ve been waiting ever since the Jetsons (at least) for this and now I think it might really happen. Yes, flying cars. Word is that within the next six or seven years there will be flying taxi’s. They will take off and land vertically (a technology the military has used for a long time). But the thing that makes me think it might really happen is that there are at least 19 different companies working on building flying cars. A few of the cars in progress were being shown at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas. You gotta believe at least one of them will make it happen, right?
But thinking ahead…would I be willing to pay for a taxi to fly me to work and back? Oh yes!!! No question about it!!! I hope they hurry up – Davy

Well the Oscar nominations came out this morning. The show will be televised on Sunday, February 24th. I’m not sure how much we care about the Oscars, but I will say this; I think it was a pretty good year for movies. In fact, this year I’ve seen more than half of the movies nominated for best picture and that’s unusual. It seems like most years I haven’t even heard of half of the best picture nominees.
I have my favorites and I certainly have a few specific people I’d like to see win, but it’s too soon to think about that. After all, I had a team or two that I wanted to see win their way to the Super Bowl too…and that didn’t go so well… More thoughts on the Oscars soon… – Davy
January 21st, 2019
Ok so my two cents on the weekend football is that it was two great games… and, oh yeah… I’m now a Rams fan… Sorry, just can’t root for New England.
Bigger than the weekend football though is we’ve made it to the last ten days of January and, yes, it is cold, but we made it through the weekend with a little less aggravation than we were expecting.
Three weeks to baseball spring training!!! – Davy
January 18th, 2019
The weekend is here and it’s a big one if you’re a football fan… or a fan of unpredictable weather… Looks like some snow, sleet, and rain but still I think I’ll be glad I’m not in Kansas where the Chiefs will play. It’ll be real cold.
In a new study out this week, word is the average NFL fan spends 46 hours a month thinking, talking, or reading about their favorite NFL team. I’m pretty sure that depends on how good your team is though. If your team is real good or real bad you probably spend more time than that. Either way… this is true… I bought a new coat so I could leave my Redskins coat at home. Every time I wore it people would ask me why my team is so bad. I’m out of answers… I now have a plain black coat.
This weekend, I pick Kansas City and the Rams to win. We’ll see, have a great weekend. – Davy

Happy Wednesday! Today is International Hot And Spicy Food Day! It really is… and I’ve got to admit I love hot & spicy and I’ll no doubt celebrate the day appropriately at dinner tonight. I love hot & spicy food and I really love all the various sauces. Wing sauce, hot sauce, and all the double named sauces too… Bang Bang sauce, Yum Yum sauce… Boom Boom sauce… all great.
But here’s the truth. I’m pretty sure if I maintain enough of a concentration of hot sauce in my system, it kills all the germs that cause colds and the flu. Don’t laugh… I think there’s some science to back me up here.
Either way… something hot & spicy will warm you up today. Enjoy! – Davy

If you’re an Eagles or Cowboys fan… things didn’t go your way this weekend. I know how you feel so I’ve decided to be a Kansas City Fan from here on out. But mostly I guess, I’m really a fan of… four weeks left to baseball spring training!
By the way, today is also National Dress Your Pet Up day…I mentioned that to my cat Charles this morning and he said…well I can’t really repeat what he said, but basically it was “Guess again”
Have a great day. – Davy

Heading into a weekend of big playoff football so if you’re an Eagles fan… Good Luck!!!
I’m thinking about a quick winter getaway and I ran across this… An Underwater Hotel… the world’s first underwater hotel has opened in the Maldives. A one-night stay costs $50,000. The underwater glass bedroom allows guests to sleep while fish, stingrays, turtles, and sharks swim by… I think my problem would be… I’d always be hungry… I love seafood.
Have a great weekend. – Davy

It’s definitely feeling colder and a little more “winterish” but look on the bright side. We’ve made it to almost the middle of January with only a few weather issues. I do feel sorry for skiers though, it hasn’t been a great season for hitting the slopes. There is still time though.
More than the weather, I am loving the days getting longer. I realize it’s only about a minute a day or so but still…I’m a big fan of sunshine…and lots of it!
It’s almost the weekend and another good one for pro football! Make it a great day- Davy

I’m a fan of the show Big Bang Theory and it’s in it’s last season… I’ll be sad to see it go. But one thing they need to address before the show ends is this… In several episodes over the years they’ve made fun of Aquaman. A couple of times they’ve gone to costume parties and no one wanted to dress up as Aquaman. Well check this out! AQUAMAN has set a movie record. The movie has made a total worldwide of $940.7 million. This means Aquaman is now the top worldwide grossing movie in the DC Comics Extended Universe.
I love it!… Have a great day! – Davy

So was this past weekend of playoff football exciting enough for you?
I guess it depends on who you’re rooting for, but congrats to Eagles and Cowboys fans. The bad news is though, looking ahead to the games those two teams are playing next weekend… they should be a little scared. In fact, the kicker from the Bears might be saying, next week at this time… “I’m glad I missed that kick”.
Hey the Golden Globe Awards last night only ran about 20 minutes over time… It should probably get a Golden Globe award for that. – Davy
January 4th, 2019
Well here we go… into the first playoff weekend in the NFL and I’m guessing things could get interesting.
If you’re a Ravens fan…good luck to your team taking on the Chargers, Sunday afternoon. Hey, no matter the outcome of the game, it looks like a record will be set. The Ravens QB Lamar Jackson will be the youngest ever starting QB in the playoffs. I hope you get a win to go with it. Meanwhile, defending champs the Eagles against the Bears…I’m afraid the Eagles might have their hands full.
And you probably know I’m a Redskins fan and I’ll do what I always do this time of year…sit back and laugh! Playoffs? what are playoffs? – Davy
January 3rd, 2019
So how are you doing with those New Year’s resolutions? It’s the 3rd day of the year and if you’re still keeping your resolutions you’re doing well. according to a new survey, 77% of people keep their New year’s resolutions for one week. About 55% will make it a month.
Hey… anything you can do is progress right? If you keep not being successful, maybe you need to make a different resolution? I resolve to drink more coffee… and eat more cookies… Ha! I can’t fail! – Davy

Welcome to the New Year! I hope you had a great holiday!!! I did, but I think I’m feeling like everyone else… uhhh… what day is it? Is it Monday, or Friday, or Wednesday? It’s hard to get your body to adjust itself, right? When holidays fall on the weekend it’s no problem… we’re real good at adjusting to a three day weekend aren’t we?
Here we go… into what I hope is a fantastic 2019 for you! – Davy
December 21st, 2018
So as we get closer and closer to the Holidays I’m thinking one of the things I want the most is to stay well. Into this weekend before Christmas I’m pretty happy. Shopping mostly done, delicious food on the way in fact everything in order. But I’ve also taken preventive measures to feel good for the holidays… Flu shot, check… No mistletoe to be found (no disease spreading)… check… Just fist bumping… no handshakes… check…. good bottle of Rum… (to kill the germs of course)… check… These are things that Health Officials have suggested, well most of those things. I did a little improvising at the end but… Here it comes! The last weekend before the Holidays!!! – Davy

I’ve heard about lots of novelty Christmas trees. I’ve seen the upside down tree that hangs from the ceiling and also the cut in half tree that hangs from the ceiling and of course the trees of various colors…but here’s a new one that I think might be a pretty good idea…How about the half tree that’s cut vertically down the middle! How about that! The trees cost from $40 to $130 but here’s what you do. If you have a small room or even a room without a good corner…it sits flush against the wall! It looks great but takes up less space. It’s a pretty great idea because who likes decorating the back of the tree anyway. The only thing I wonder about is with that much of the middle of the tree cut off, wouldn’t it dry out really fast? I mean I’m definitely not a tree- ologist (?) but I’m just guessing… – Davy
