Soooooo – with WINTER officially here, I’m still waiting for the SNOW; not “the snow” — “THE SNOW”!!! There IS a difference, as you all know – I remember the old days where Noreaster’s would come one after another, and we just called it WINTER. Of course, those were the days before “DRAMA REPORTING” came in and everyone on camera with a mic and tried to do ANYTHING for ratings… we’ve seen weather anchors faking INTENSE winds for the camera as people walked behind seemingly in another overlapping universe. We’ve seen the “predictions and warnings” for storms when they’re actually just “watches”, with nothing ending up on the ground but our feet, tires and no snow between the two.
I miss the days when Easter Egg Hunts were even MORE fun because you had to dig through snow to find a stupid egg, just so you’d have more than your brother(s), sister(s) and cousin(s), or the other kids living around you. I miss the days when your Halloween costume was 3 sizes too small because you unexpectedly had to throw on your show suit, boots, mittens and hat beneath your “Princess” costume. I miss the days when Thanksgiving really DID involve going over the rivers and through the woods to Grandmother’s house, hoping your car didn’t slide off the side of the valley you were driving into, or off the side of the steep hill you were trying to make it up. THOSE were the days when being a kid was EXCITING. Because you got what you got, with no one trying to whip you into a frenzy over something that is never coming… THOSE were WINTERS!!! Enjoy the weather Y’all… Yours to gripe to – TJ McVay

It’s the most wonderful time of the year; everything looks a little brighter, family means a little more to you than the rest of the year, and when it snows it’s like the icing on the cake – so that brings me to this: when you get together for holiday gatherings, and your entire family decides to each bring something, is it only MY family that ends up bagging and boxing up tons of food? After being one of the people who brought some kind of salad (potato, taco, macaroni, pasta, fruit, etc – ), meat dish, soup, veggie tray, dessert, drink or fruit for years, something happened that made my entire perspective shift from bringing something to EAT to bringing something every REALLY needed and would be happy to find: TOILET PAPER – one summer while we were at the Summer House on the Canal, enjoying family, food and the holiday, I had to use the “latrine”. Of course – all that food and drink will only stay in your for so long before it works its’ way through your system. Normal, yes. What was NOT normal was doing my business and finding there was NOTHING to “refresh” myself with once I was finished. When I was a kid, going outside and not having the “luxuries” of TP was no biggie, since there werent bathrooms or portolets lining the country roads or woods. But as an adult in a “civilized setting” – ???? WORST feeling EVER.
Ever since that day, my contribution to our family picnics and gatherings is – and always will be – TOILET PAPER.

So, this year – thanks to Tommy, my Fiance – there is a TREE in my house for Christmas. It’s been MANY years since I’ve actually had one – mainly because my two cats are CLIMBERS and would have a FIELD DAY with not only the tree, but everything on it. Initially, I figured that saying I’d get one as long as it was BLACK would knock me out of having to get one. But, thanks to today’s “adventurous” world, they actually have FAKE BLACK trees.
Now, I wouldnt exactly call it BLACK; it looks more like a VERY dark green. But I do keep my word, and I said I would get one as long as it’s black. What I DIDN’T promise was to get something obnoxiously tall and big. So, I’ve taken two pictures of my “tree” – it’s actually sitting on my table in front of my front window.
So much for Christmas costing ME an arm and a leg in electric! Merry Christmas to you; 22 days until CHRISTMAS. I plan to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS as often as possible. Screw PC World. This is MY reality.

“TECHNOLOGY – MAKING OUR LIVES EASIER” ???
Now, that’s pretty damned funny – as you all know, my schedule is a “bit different” than the rest of your normal people; I get to sleep by anywhere from 4-6P, get up around midnight, prep for the show with Joe in the morning and just assume that the rest of the world is running in perfect harmony with everything around it. This morning I happened to wake up and find a documentary called “Killer Robots” on HBO. Not being much of a “techie” myself, and hating that jobs with REAL people are being taken away by autonomy, I figured I’d give this program a chance. And sooooo glad I did – with everything from check out aisles at the grocery store, ATMs at banks, VOICEMAIL HELL and beyond – including cars that drive themselves while you sit and watch TV (Tesla’s FAMOUS FATAL CRASH in Florida was the most horrifying event I’d ever heard and a PRIME example of why this is SOOO wrong) – seeing a man married to a female robot because he’s “socially challenged and awkward around girls”… there comes a point when we, as HUMANS, have to say ENOUGH.
Who do you sue when those Teslas smash into another car and kill someone? Who do you blame when the computer doesn’t pay out the right amount? Who do you look at when that automated system doesn’t kick in when it’s supposed to? HUMANS. Because there’s always room for “human error”. And that’s not the worst part – the horror is that computers are making us STUPID. They’re taking away our reason to THINK. To remember the things that we always knew, or at least had to learn. Our youth no longer needs to learn how to make change because the cash register tells them how much to give back – IF they can even figure out how to do THAT at this point. Our youth no longer has to remember phone numbers because they’re stored in our cell phones. Our youth cant even SIGN their names in cursive because it’s not taught in school any longer. Dictionaries are a thing of the past; God forgive them when they actually have to try to use one if that’s all that’s available to them – and the lists go on and on.
What I find even MORE terrifying: this is the YOUTH that’s going to “take care of US” when we cant care for ourselves. Be afraid. Be VERY afraid. Personally, I’ll live on a mountain with no one around before I let any of that happen to me. The way things are going on this planet, our generation will be euthanized by 70 – if they allow us to live that long. Maybe they’ll build a computer that will do that for them also…
Thanksgiving’s over — Merry Christmas!!!

Did I mention I absolutely LOVE Halloween? I dont know about you, but this is MY favorite holiday of them all – it’s the one night of the year grown-ups can act like idiots and get away with it!
Looking back at my “Trick Or Treating” experiences, I’d have to say THE BEST was when we had moved from the farm in the backwoods of Bucks County to the borough of Northampton, where houses are pretty much stacked on top of each other on the “borough streets” and HALLOWEEN was SOOOOO amazing: people were handing out full-sized Hershey bars, Snickers, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Cracker Jacks and anything else you can think of that kids love and is considered JUNK FOOD/SNACKS.
And dont even get me started on the “costumes” we had – our Mom made ours, and they were TOTALLY better than the ones you can buy at ANY Halloween store… one year I was (are you ready for this??? — ) a PRINCESS. Once and done on that one; the next year I was a football player, and the year after that I think I was an Army recruit.
In the Spirit of the HOLIDAY (yeah, I know I’m EARLY, better than being LATE!), may the ghosties and ghoulies be kind to you – but not TOO kind. May the vampires and werewolves only take small bites. Let Halloween fill your heart with the same kind of joy it gave you as a kid… because dammit we’re getting older every day!!!
Be good to each other!

I miss the days of REAL “customer service” – does anyone remember those days other than me? We’ve been talking about CUSTOMER SERVICE HELL – yesterday was yet ANOTHER day where I spent 3+ hours just trying to get my internet service running at at least HALF of what I was promised and paying $100 a month for –
I wont name the company (it’s not the company starting with a “V” – it’s the OTHER one, and no, not Sprint – ) but once a month I spent at least 2 hours just TRYING to get someone to help me, was transfered at least 7 times each call, only to get hung up on for the last time before I totally LOST it on someone and then giving up. Yesterday I was determined to wait it out and to call as many times as I had to to get SOMEONE to help me.
Call #1: Slightly pissed and not in the mood, a bit more so after I was transfered 5 times, then hung up on after talking to 5 people who did NOT speak fluent English and were very short and rude. I was transfered to the same departments in circles before the call was “dropped”. That was about an hour of waiting.
Call #2: Blood pressure is now higher, and my brain is about to go into the RED ZONE – I was transfered by more people who couldn’t speak English clearly, had a hard time understanding me and circled me once again through departments that sent me back to the same departments that had sent me to them. I finally was told to hold for a supervisor – and then I was connected to a “sex line” where a woman was talking like I do when I mock those kind of lines, and asking me to punch in my credit card number. Yeah, I hung up. And called back a THIRD time.
Call #3: TOTALLY pissed at this point, I was rude, used the C word with the very first person I talked to (if you’re thinking the word was CANCEL, you’d be correct – I dont use that “other” c-word), was also very short and condescending because after two hours, I had had ENOUGH. I asked for a supervisor, was sent to one, who connected me – FINALLY – with the department who apparently COULD help me. “Jonathon” spent an hour with me, doing speed tests, resets, updates and did do some good. He credited me a whopping $25 on my account (the best he could do I guess, which was appreciated nonetheless) and noted that I just may need a new “Netgear NightHawk” Hot Spot box if the problem persists.
Which brings me to my FINAL comment: WTF is wrong with PA as far as “high speed internet”??? Over 800,000 of us are paying top-dollar for “high speed internet” and not getting it. Here in PA, we dont even have the ability to get a fiber-optic line with my MAJOR carrier (starting with an A, ending with a T) much less REGULAR service with that company – hence my “Hot Spot” box – it’s time to start fighting for what we’re paying for. Because I for one am tired of “getting screwed” and paying for things not supplied…

May 30th, 2018
Happy Wednesday Yall! With the shortened week, and the reason it IS short, I’m sending love and many MANY thanks to our military men and women out there who sacrifice their lives and family time to make sure our families, friends and homes are all safe, and stay that way. Happy Memorial Day to ALL of you, living or otherwise – thank you for giving me the continued freedom to think as I want, speak what I think, and to believe what I choose to believe – thank you for sacrificing your holiday time with your families so I can spend my time with MY family during the holidays; I pray for your safety, warmth and mental fortitude often, and wish there was some way I could repay the endless things you do without as you also do without sleep, hugs from loved ones and kisses on your face when they’re most needed.
At a time when “freedom” is what this country is all about – from opening our arms and hearts as well as pocketbooks to people from other countries to standing up for illegal immigrants rights – I think it’s about time our government and the liberals who all are so quick to jump to the defense of someone who doesnt belong here LEGALLY to be so fast in screaming for better wages, insurance and healthcare for our servicemen and women. Where are you when our military members are hurt and need care? Where are you when they’re living on the streets suffering from PTSD and other mental issues caused by the stress of WAR and other related issues? It breaks my heart to think that someone would be so generous to offer free housing, food, insurance, cars and many other things to someone who came into this country illegally, yet wont take a stand for our OWN – I have family who served in the military; my brother-in-law SSG Michael Grim served 20+ years and retired, only to take a position doing the same thing as a retired-military-now-civilian employee… my Uncle Jim Gardner, Uncle Mike Gardner and Uncle Pete Gardner all did tours in Viet Nam while the war was raging. My Father was on a ship in the Navy during Viet Nam as well. Not to mention my Father’s relation who also served when they first came to America from Ireland. And I have nothing but respect for all of them for giving so freely for a country that meant so very much to them.
And that’s why I’m asking for our country – this great United States of America – to start GIVING BACK to our military members. LOVE them. Give them what they DESERVE. Take CARE of them when they come back different than when they signed those papers to give of themselves. Is it so hard to give to those who deserve it BEFORE we give to those who DONT? Our military members were BORN here. RAISED here. Made the choice to fight for us and our homeland. Our country should do the same in return. THREEFOLD.
That’s just my thoughts on what our servicemen and women DESERVE. Thank you to ALL of you who continue to fight for us. I wish I could do more than write down what I feel you deserve. I wish I could GIVE you what you need AND deserve. Because it’s so much more than what you’re given now… – TJ McVay

Today is the day that I celebrate the ONE THING I managed to do right: give BIRTH to a baby… and that baby is MY baby, and my only child, Barry.
You know how “they” always say it’s a pain you never remember? It was THE MOST excruciating pain I’ve ever experienced… and as far as pain goes, I’m the REIGNING QUEEN of being able to handle pain – CHILDBIRTH isnt PAIN — childbirth is TORTURE.
I have to tell you ladies who “went in and the baby practically dropped out of you”: how did you DO that? I was in the hospital for over 27 hours, and they finally decided to YANK him out of me with a forceps, because Barry was NOT coming out.
Guys, those of you who have actually SEEN a baby being born know it’s not “easy”. You know it’s not “fun”. And you probably know in your heart-of-hearts that the pain we women go through to actually keep this planet populated is NOT the easiest, nor most fun, thing to do. Actually, if someone had given me a choice between childbirth and having every single rib broken in at least one place – I’d have chosen the BROKEN RIBS. And “they” also say that when you look look into your newborn’s eyes you forget every single rib kick, morning-sick-eat-everything-you-see-and-gain-100-pounds day — all I can respond with is WTF??? WHY do these lies continue?
In all actuality, every woman should have to watch one video of an episiotomy, a caesarean delivery and a woman who’s screaming for 24 hours while trying to push something the size of a watermelon out of a place that never gets that big BEFORE having sex with ANYONE – just to see the risks of actually HAVING sex.
But with all that being said – my son is handsome, smart, hard-working with great work ethics and now happily married. WITH NO CHILDREN. Yet. This too shall eventually happen.
My NEXT crisis: NO ONE’S calling me grandma, Mawmaw, Meemaw, Memmy. Grammy, Nana, Gram or even Grandmother. I’ve already mused over what this child will be addressing me as: TiTi. And THAT is NOT negotiable.
have a great rest of the week!!! And Happy Birthday to my Son, Barry ELVIN Kibler, Jr… not MY choice of names either (blame that one on his dad – I wanted to name him PonyBoy!)… – TJ McVay
May 4th, 2018
In a world full of “SHEEP”, I choose to be an “ASS” – not in the “obvious” way, as in IDIOT, but rather in a “stubborn-I’m-gonna-do-my-own-thing” way. Like donkeys – but that wouldnt have gotten your attention as quickly, would it???
Here’s an example: Bill tells me I shouldnt say Baltimore the way it’s pronounced, because then I sound like I’m not “from” here… NEWSFLASH: (but no surprise to yall) I’m NOT. I cant say “Ballduhmore”, nor can I say “Ballimore” – I’m an ENGLISH MAJOR. I went to High School in Northampton (yes, PA). Which is close to Bethlehem. Not “BETHLUM”, as those who were born and raised there pronounce it. And it totally irks me when I hear someone on the local news call it “North Hampton”, as if it’s TWO WORDS. It’s ONE. And no where in the spelling do I see two “H’s”.
Y’all have NO idea the HORROR I feel when I mispronounce something… TYPOS are even WORSE, because now it’s written down on paper, and can kept forever and used against me at any given time in the future… the mere thought of it makes me cringe!
Dont get me wrong – I have my own slang when I’m having a great time and just shootin’ the BS with friends, family and those of you who listen (who I consider family as well, which is why I’m so comfortable being ME with yall!), but when it comes to telling the facts in news, traffic or anything that’s SERIOUS, I like to sound like I have at least half a brain.
So next time, when you hear me “slaughter” a word on the air, just know that inside, I’m dying…
Enjoy your weekend!!! And thanks for popping in and reading my ever-so-random-and-rambling blogs!!! – TJ
