Did I mention I absolutely LOVE Halloween? I dont know about you, but this is MY favorite holiday of them all – it’s the one night of the year grown-ups can act like idiots and get away with it!
Looking back at my “Trick Or Treating” experiences, I’d have to say THE BEST was when we had moved from the farm in the backwoods of Bucks County to the borough of Northampton, where houses are pretty much stacked on top of each other on the “borough streets” and HALLOWEEN was SOOOOO amazing: people were handing out full-sized Hershey bars, Snickers, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Cracker Jacks and anything else you can think of that kids love and is considered JUNK FOOD/SNACKS.
And dont even get me started on the “costumes” we had – our Mom made ours, and they were TOTALLY better than the ones you can buy at ANY Halloween store… one year I was (are you ready for this??? — ) a PRINCESS. Once and done on that one; the next year I was a football player, and the year after that I think I was an Army recruit.
In the Spirit of the HOLIDAY (yeah, I know I’m EARLY, better than being LATE!), may the ghosties and ghoulies be kind to you – but not TOO kind. May the vampires and werewolves only take small bites. Let Halloween fill your heart with the same kind of joy it gave you as a kid… because dammit we’re getting older every day!!!
Be good to each other!

I miss the days of REAL “customer service” – does anyone remember those days other than me? We’ve been talking about CUSTOMER SERVICE HELL – yesterday was yet ANOTHER day where I spent 3+ hours just trying to get my internet service running at at least HALF of what I was promised and paying $100 a month for –
I wont name the company (it’s not the company starting with a “V”  – it’s the OTHER one, and no, not Sprint – ) but once a month I spent at least 2 hours just TRYING to get someone to help me, was transfered at least 7 times each call, only to get hung up on for the last time before I totally LOST it on someone and then giving up. Yesterday I was determined to wait it out and to call as many times as I had to to get SOMEONE to help me.
Call #1: Slightly pissed and not in the mood, a bit more so after I was transfered 5 times, then hung up on after talking to 5 people who did NOT speak fluent English and were very short and rude. I was transfered to the same departments in circles before the call was “dropped”. That was about an hour of waiting.
Call #2: Blood pressure is now higher, and my brain is about to go into the RED ZONE – I was transfered by more people who couldn’t speak English clearly, had a hard time understanding me and circled me once again through departments that sent me back to the same departments that had sent me to them. I finally was told to hold for a supervisor – and then I was connected to a “sex line” where a woman was talking like I do when I mock those kind of lines, and asking me to punch in my credit card number. Yeah, I hung up. And called back a THIRD time.
Call #3: TOTALLY pissed at this point, I was rude, used the C word with the very first person I talked to (if you’re thinking the word was CANCEL, you’d be correct – I dont use that “other” c-word), was also very short and condescending because after two hours, I had had ENOUGH. I asked for a supervisor, was sent to one, who connected me – FINALLY – with the department who apparently COULD help me. “Jonathon” spent an hour with me, doing speed tests, resets, updates and did do some good. He credited me a whopping $25 on my account (the best he could do I guess, which was appreciated nonetheless) and noted that I just may need a new “Netgear NightHawk” Hot Spot box if the problem persists.
Which brings me to my FINAL comment: WTF is wrong with PA as far as “high speed internet”??? Over 800,000 of us are paying top-dollar for “high speed internet” and not getting it. Here in PA, we dont even have the ability to get a fiber-optic line with my MAJOR carrier (starting with an A, ending with a T) much less REGULAR service with that company – hence my “Hot Spot” box – it’s time to start fighting for what we’re paying for. Because I for one am tired of “getting screwed” and paying for things not supplied…

May 30th, 2018

Happy Wednesday Yall! With the shortened week, and the reason it IS short, I’m sending love and many MANY thanks to our military men and women out there who sacrifice their lives and family time to make sure our families, friends and homes are all safe, and stay that way. Happy Memorial Day to ALL of you, living or otherwise –  thank you for giving me the continued freedom to think as I want, speak what I think, and to believe what I choose to believe – thank you for sacrificing your holiday time with your families so I can spend my time with MY family during the holidays; I pray for your safety, warmth and mental fortitude often, and wish there was some way I could repay the endless things you do without as you also do without sleep, hugs from loved ones and kisses on your face when they’re most needed.
At a time when “freedom” is what this country is all about – from opening our arms and hearts as well as pocketbooks to people from other countries to standing up for illegal immigrants rights – I think it’s about time our government and the liberals who all are so quick to jump to the defense of someone who doesnt belong here LEGALLY to be so fast in screaming for better wages, insurance and healthcare for our servicemen and women. Where are you when our military members are hurt and need care? Where are you when they’re living on the streets suffering from PTSD and other mental issues caused by the stress of WAR and other related issues? It breaks my heart to think that someone would be so generous to offer free housing, food, insurance, cars and many other things to someone who came into this country illegally, yet wont take a stand for our OWN – I have family who served in the military; my brother-in-law SSG Michael Grim served 20+ years and retired, only to take a position doing the same thing as a retired-military-now-civilian employee… my Uncle Jim Gardner, Uncle Mike Gardner and Uncle Pete Gardner all did tours in Viet Nam while the war was raging. My Father was on a ship in the Navy during Viet Nam as well. Not to mention my Father’s relation who also served when they first came to America from Ireland. And I have nothing but respect for all of them for giving so freely for a country that meant so very much to them.
And that’s why I’m asking for our country – this great United States of America – to start GIVING BACK to our military members. LOVE them. Give them what they DESERVE. Take CARE of them when they come back different than when they signed those papers to give of themselves. Is it so hard to give to those who deserve it BEFORE we give to those who DONT? Our military members were BORN here. RAISED here. Made the choice to fight for us and our homeland. Our country should do the same in return. THREEFOLD.
That’s just my thoughts on what our servicemen and women DESERVE. Thank you to ALL of you who continue to fight for us. I wish I could do more than write down what I feel you deserve. I wish I could GIVE you what you need AND deserve. Because it’s so much more than what you’re given now…  – TJ McVay

Today is the day that I celebrate the ONE  THING I managed to do right: give BIRTH to a baby… and that baby is MY baby, and my only child, Barry.
You know how “they” always say it’s a pain you never remember? It was THE MOST excruciating pain I’ve ever experienced… and as far as pain goes, I’m the REIGNING QUEEN of being able to handle pain – CHILDBIRTH isnt PAIN — childbirth is TORTURE.
I have to tell you ladies who “went in and the baby practically dropped out of you”: how did you DO that? I was in the hospital for over 27 hours, and they finally decided to YANK him out of me with a forceps, because Barry was NOT coming out.
Guys, those of you who have actually SEEN a baby being born know it’s not “easy”. You know it’s not “fun”. And you probably know in your heart-of-hearts that the pain we women go through to actually keep this planet populated is NOT the easiest, nor most fun, thing to do. Actually, if someone had given me a choice between childbirth and having every single rib broken in at least one place – I’d have chosen the BROKEN RIBS. And “they” also say that when you look look into your newborn’s eyes you forget every single rib kick, morning-sick-eat-everything-you-see-and-gain-100-pounds day — all I can respond with is WTF??? WHY do these lies continue?
In all actuality, every woman should have to watch one video of an episiotomy, a caesarean delivery and a woman who’s screaming for 24 hours while trying to push something the size of a watermelon out of a place that never gets that big BEFORE having sex with ANYONE – just to see the risks of actually HAVING sex.
But with all that being said – my son is handsome, smart, hard-working with great work ethics and now happily married. WITH NO CHILDREN. Yet. This too shall eventually happen.
My NEXT crisis: NO ONE’S calling me grandma, Mawmaw, Meemaw, Memmy. Grammy, Nana, Gram or even Grandmother. I’ve already mused over what this child will be addressing me as: TiTi. And THAT is NOT negotiable.
For more on my “ramblings”, please see “tjhasissuesandtheyreserious.com” —
have a great rest of the week!!! And Happy Birthday to my Son, Barry ELVIN Kibler, Jr… not MY choice of names either (blame that one on his dad – I wanted to name him PonyBoy!)…  – TJ McVay

May 4th, 2018

In a world full of “SHEEP”, I choose to be an “ASS” – not in the “obvious” way, as in IDIOT, but rather in a “stubborn-I’m-gonna-do-my-own-thing” way. Like donkeys – but that wouldnt have gotten your attention as quickly, would it???
Here’s an example: Bill tells me I shouldnt say Baltimore the way it’s pronounced, because then I sound like I’m not “from” here… NEWSFLASH: (but no surprise to yall) I’m NOT. I cant say “Ballduhmore”, nor can I say “Ballimore” – I’m an ENGLISH MAJOR. I went to High School in Northampton (yes, PA). Which is close to Bethlehem. Not “BETHLUM”, as those who were born and raised there pronounce it. And it totally irks me when I hear someone on the local news call it “North Hampton”, as if it’s TWO WORDS. It’s ONE. And no where in the spelling do I see two “H’s”.
Y’all have NO idea the HORROR I feel when I mispronounce something… TYPOS are even WORSE, because now it’s written down on paper, and can kept forever and used against me at any given time in the future… the mere thought of it makes me cringe!
Dont get me wrong – I have my own slang when I’m having a great time and just shootin’ the BS with friends, family and those of you who listen (who I consider family as well, which is why I’m so comfortable being ME with yall!), but when it comes to telling the facts in news, traffic or anything that’s SERIOUS, I like to sound like I have at least half a brain.
So next time, when you hear me “slaughter” a word on the air, just know that inside, I’m dying…
Enjoy your weekend!!! And thanks for popping in and reading my ever-so-random-and-rambling blogs!!!  – TJ

April 27th, 2018

Because it’s been a while since I’ve actually lived in a HOUSE (Dungeons were my best choice since they were contained with not a lot of room, nor windows to let the heat/cold into/out of your place), I’m once again experiencing that feeling you get when there’s more to take care of other than just cleaning –
like YARDS. Shrubs. “Landscaping”. Raking. Edging. Did I mention I really REALLY dont like doing “outside work”??
So, never having really “done” outside work, how do you get rid of those “holes” that are in your yard? Do you fill them with sod and sprinkle grass seeds all over??? I have an idea how to edge, cut grass and trim – that’s all the easy stuff. But to be perfectly honest, I always did the INSIDE work and the hubby did the OUTSIDE things. Which leaves me in the dark, at least a bit. WTH??? If ANYONE has any “words of wisdom” to share, please feel free to hit me up on the Rocky 98.5 FB page (message me!) – I could use a little “guidance” on this one! And seriously – when a woman ASKS for “help”, we REALLY need it, because that means we have to admit we’re “lacking” in an area…
Have a great weekend, yall!!!   – TJ McVay

February 16th, 2018

3…2…1… ahhhhhhhhh – Friday, the best day of the week when you’re a “Monday-through-Friday’er”!!! Second ONLY to “Friday OFF” –
The Olympics have been on for almost a week; is anyone watching them? I remember when I was a kid – we’d sit with our Mom and that was “the night’s TV TIME”. Does that even happen any longer? Are the Olympics running out of steam? Are they as exciting as they used to be to us when we were kids? As an adult (debatable at times, yes I know), I’m “just not into” them. I will record each broadcast and fast-forward through the minutes in case there’s something I’m waiting for. But other than that I’m pretty much UNintrigued by the games these days. Wish I could say the same about Survivor, Hell’s Kitchen, Channel Zero: Butcher’s Block, AHS, GoT – you get it, I know…
Enjoy your weekend – go do something that will make you feel wicked. Or happy. Or fulfilled. Or needed. Or thankful. And yeah, again, you get it, I know…!!!  — TJ McVay

Happy Valentines Day!!! Or IS it really a “HAPPY” day, if you think about how it REALLY started???
Straight from the pages of History.com, here’s the REAL story on “Valentine’s Day”:

The history of Valentine’s Day–and the story of its patron saint–is shrouded in mystery. We do know that February has long been celebrated as a month of romance, and that St. Valentine’s Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. But who was Saint Valentine, and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred. One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons, where they were often beaten and tortured. According to one legend, an imprisoned Valentine actually sent the first “valentine” greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl–possibly his jailor’s daughter–who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed “From your Valentine,” an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories all emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic and–most importantly–romantic figure. By the Middle Ages, perhaps thanks to this reputation, Valentine would become one of the most popular saints in England and France.

I have been REMISS at keeping up on days; did you ever wake up and just have that feeling your day was NOT going to go the way you want it to? Yeah, welcome to my life at least once a week, lol!
You know I’m a HUGE fan of movies and series on cable TV; Starz has a new series out called “Counterpart”. J.K. Simmons, Olivia Williams, other cast members who I’ve never seen in anything else in this series about an alternate Earth that was created when an experiment copied our planet, including everything and everyone on it. So there were doubles, and of course a way to go from one “world” to the other. Doorways, etc. But the “alternate” Earth has some nastier diseases that can kill the people living in it, and of course there are plot twists, doubles changing lives in the other’s world, etc. J.K. Simmons should get nominated for TWO awards in the same category for successfully pulling off BOTH roles. He went from playing “the Nazi you HATED” on OZ, to the Farmers Insurance Rep in commercials to this amazing role – if you havent had a chance to check out the series and you have Starz, make sure to give it a look!
Enjoy the rest of your day, and here if you need anything – always!  – TJ McVay

Now that things have settled down in Philly, and the Superbowl trophy is in a FRESH NEW city for a change, I can BREATHE a little easier and enjoy the NFL once again – the same team winning/creating “Gates” in Championship games gets OLD and BORING – !!!
Let’s shift this conversation to YOU: how’s 2018 treating YOU? Sure, you’re probably tired of the cold temperatures. And I’m sure after this morning you’re WAY OVER the ice, sleet, and freezing rain that we have to deal with on our way to and from home to work and vice-versa… but here’s the ONE good thing about WINTER and the COLD we should ALL agree on: these cold temperatures kill BUGS!!!
I know there are some good ones out there, but, TICKS? Ugh. WTH – what DO they DO, really? They’re parasites that suck the very fluid that keeps us alive from our bodies, and sometimes leave us something in return: LYME DISEASE. And how about those “stink bugs”? Just what IS their major beneficial function, or good thing they do for ANY of us? I’m thinking: NOTHING. Not a single thing. And then we an go into the COCKROACH category, which is extra-gross — other than those humongous hissing ones, they’re just creepy and, in my opinion, a little too fast for my liking. Those are just the bugs that come to my mind first – imagine all of them I dont even know about… then this slams into my brain: I really REALLY like the darkness…
But so do COCKROACHES. Imagine MY nightmares – *shivering*
Have a great Wednesday yall!!! — TJ

Sooooooo – KUDOS going out to our PA Eagles for winning their very first Super Bowl Trophy; it’s been a long time coming, gentlemen – and you worked SO hard for this one. Here’s MY reasons why I wanted the Eagles to WIN Super Bowl 52:
1. They’re a PA team!
2. They kept NE from tying Super Bowl wins at 6 with my Steelers!
3. This is my SON’S team; you ALWAYS want your son to be happy!
4. Nick Fowles – need I say MORE???
Nick Fowles just may be my NEW Favorite player (of course, right behind Clay Matthews!); that man didnt show ONE SIGN of cracking under pressure. He didnt infect his team with anxiety, he didnt fluff, he didnt get flustered – even when things got a  but “tight” as far as the score went. So yeah – this guy is not only as cool as a cucumber, but also just a REAL. NICE. guy.
And more “high fives” to the ENTIRE Eagles team; rumor has it a lot of you played with the flu – and PLAY you all did! You brought a PULSE back to Philly; you gave your fans something they always wanted but never had: that Super Bowl Trophy! THIS woman appreciates the hard work and “never say die” attitude you all brought along to Minneapolis… looking forward to a PA Super Bowl next year: Steelers vs. Eagles!!!
Hang in there; today I feel ALL yalls pain… I need a NAP!   – TJ McVay

February 1st, 2018

Today is Groundhog Day EVE – are YOU ready for what that cute little rodent has to tell us? There’s one VEXING problem with that whole idea inside my head: if the sun is out, Phil will ALWAYS see his shadow – if it’s cloudy and raining, with no sun through the clouds, he wont. Is this just another way of making the masses feel comfortable during the colder months?
Here’s the origins, in case you never thought to google WHY we do what we do on February 2nd every year: In 1723, the Delaware Indians settled Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania as a campsite halfway between the Allegheny and the Susquehanna Rivers. The town is 90 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, at the intersection of Route 36 and Route 119. The Delawares considered groundhogs honorable ancestors. According to the original creation beliefs of the Delaware Indians, their forebears began life as animals in “Mother Earth” and emerged centuries later to hunt and live as men. When German settlers arrived in the 1700s, they brought a tradition known as Candlemas Day, which has an early origin in the pagan celebration of Imbolc. It came at the mid-point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox. Superstition held that if the weather was fair, the second half of Winter would be stormy and cold. For the early Christians in Europe, it was the custom on Candlemas Day for clergy to bless candles and distribute them to the people in the dark of Winter. A lighted candle was placed in each window of the home. The day’s weather continued to be important. If the sun came out February 2, halfway between Winter and Spring, it meant six more weeks of wintry weather. If the sun made an appearance on Candlemas Day, an animal would cast a shadow, thus predicting six more weeks of Winter. Germans watched a badger for the shadow. In Pennsylvania, the groundhog, upon waking from mid-Winter hibernation, was selected as the replacement. Pennsylvania’s official celebration of Groundhog Day began on February 2nd, 1886 with a proclamation in The Punxsutawney Spirit by the newspaper’s editor, Clymer Freas: “Today is groundhog day and up to the time of going to press the beast has not seen its shadow.”  The groundhog was given the name “Punxsutawney Phil, Seer of Seers, Sage of Sages, Prognosticator of Prognosticators, and Weather Prophet Extraordinary” and his hometown thus called the “Weather Capital of the World.” His debut performance: no shadow – early Spring. The legendary first trip to Gobbler’s Knob was made the following year.
Will Punxatawney Phil see his shadow tomorrow? Who knows. If he does, WILL Winter stay longer? Cant tell you that either. It’s WEATHER. And like WOMEN, weather is unpredictable and pretty much does what it wants.

Have a great Thursday! Here if you need anything!  — TJ McVay

Havent forgotten about this BLOGGING thing, just busy with LIFE and all that that implies: had my DaVinci die in my arms two Sunday nights ago – with that being said, I know I would have been in TERRIBLE shape if he had passed and I wasnt there to hold him as he did, so me being there is a blessing itself – losing him is NOT. Death is something I take very well –
have you ever looked in a mirror and wondered what you would be like if things in your life had been different? Have you ever wondered what kind of person you’d be, what you’d be doing or where you’d be if just ONE thing had happened different in your life? I’ve been asking myself that a lot over the last few weeks.
Questions like:
What if I HADN’T listened to my very first boyfriend and went into the Military, like I wanted – what would I be doing right now? Where would I be living? Would I have 8 kids and a husband? Would I be happy? Or would I hate my life and want to cut and run?
I’ve been reading up on “Donnie Darko” (the movie with Jake Gyllenhaal), and started watching a new series on Starz called “Counterpart” – what if there really ARE parallel universes as well as Tangent ones, that run in line with us? What if we do have a twin in other planes of existence – are mine happy? Are they still taking care of Monet, Simmi, and DaVinci? Am I still married to my FIRST husband? Or have I murdered him in his sleep for all the terrible things he did to me during the 8 years I spent with him? Soooo many questions, and no answers –
that’s enough “mind blowing information” for today – be safe, stay warm in the snow and may the sun shine on your face but not in your eyes! Oh, and dont forget about the “SuperBlueBloodMoon Lunar Eclipse” that starts tomorrow morning around 525A here on the East Coast – of course we wont get to see it since the sun will be rising around that time… but NASA will be streaming video LIVE online, in case you want to check it out… tomorrow I just may have more information on what kind of precursory cataclysmic events followed these things through the years… or maybe I’ll just keep it simple and talk about The Bachelor – TJ McVay

January 19th, 2018

If you listen to us all day, you hear me – and you’re probably familiar with my weight loss progress with TrimLine Weight Loss & Wellness Center (I go to the office on South Queen Street in Spry, and the girls are AMAZING!) – so far I’ve lost around 28 inches, and over 25 pounds – all this by cooking and eating foods I prepare from supermarkets. My Sunday is usually comprised of cooking my meals for the week, and then packaging them in the appropriate serving sizes. I bring my meals every morning, and I heat them in the microwave. It turns out every time I warm them up, I’m sending the smells from my food to the sales office upstairs. And I’m driving them crazy, but in a good way. My ground turkey stuffed peppers with my own sauce waft through the building – and I end up sharing my lunches with Zach, one of our AEs every time I make them.
I used to worry about cooking and how much I really wanted to be good at it. I can tell you, after cooking since I’m 8 years old, I finally stopped worrying about whether I’m good at it or not – it doesnt matter, I’m the only one eating it anyway!!! Enjoy your weekend… and if you have any good recipes that involve low-carb meals, PLEASE feel free to share them with me!!!   – TJ McVay

Today I’m taking the time to give PROPS to ALL the STRONG female vocalists out there – of course the ones who’s names we all know… going to include some links to the videos I have in my FAVES list, in case anyone wants to check them out.
With the passing of one of our strongest at the mere age of 46, I want to share the talent of Dolores O’Riordan, and the crystal quality of her voice while she graced us with it. One of my favorite songs by her band is ZOMBIE. I could listen to this song over and over and never get sick of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ejga4kJUts
If you’ve never had the chance to listen to Garbage, Shirley Manson has a distinct edge that gives me goosebumps. This song cuts me to the core, with lyrics that – to me – explain LOVE in the most brutal, and HONEST, terms. Give #1 Crush a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFxVZiCvwkM
And then there’s Evanescence’s Amy Lee – between the lyrics to Bring Me To Life and her haunting tones, NOTHING compares or makes your heart ache for a lover to bring you back from the darkness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YxaaGgTQYM
And as much as I’m not a “pop” type person, I cant end this blog without including Sinead, because like her or hate her – THAT VOICE!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2Hw6oo1fxM
PLEASE forgive me for not including the women we LOVE in our rock format, classic rock format, and crossover – but I wanted to focus more on the women who dont get much love from us these days… hope yall enjoy the videos!!! – TJ
